I have a Canon Rebel XT, and one of the Pins in the CF card reader has Broken and now it can't read the CF card .

should i get it fixed or is it upgrade time.

Get a quote from Canon.

The Rebel still takes good pictures, so if you're happy with it, find out what the repair cost will be before deciding.

Things have gotten better in terms of low-light photos but if your repair bill is $100, that's a lot less than a new camera body.

Canon has 3 levels of fixed repair costs, depending on how complex assembly is. Parts are usually included. Worth checking out for sure.

where do you find out about that ? I asked and they didn't know anything about it.

Sadly, the body is worth about the repair cost. You could ask some other repair places about it, but I doubt it's gonna be that much cheaper.

If it were me, I'd buy another body, then tear apart the Rebel to try to fix it. IR conversion?

Thats the way I'm looking at it Blue. looking at getting a new t1i , and also watching the eBay Auctions for AS-iS bodies

I've never even heard of this. CPS would I have mentioned it I would have assumed?

50D here I come !!

$669 for a 50D body with the trade in of my old XT body

I also have an Old Dead A300 P&S , can upgrade that to an A470 for $49
