Haha - I just saw this interview:

Q - "Why are you voting today?"
A - "It's the only way to make the ads stop!"

With only 2% of precincts reporting the BBC is predicting a win in Indiana?

Geez they are as bad as US networks.
I don't think the app is relying on opinion - I think it's gonna just be working off the pure numbers. Hence 2% = a predicted win. Dunno though. I didn't read the explanation.

See this is in my opinion an example of the media trying to shape the outcome of the election. The quicker they can get predictions out about "key" "battleground" or "indicator" states the more likely they are to influence the voting of people on the West coast for whom the polls don't close till 8pm PST.

IMO all the polls should open and close at exactly the same time.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea except for the disruption to the work day for many people. Or they could just not release any results for 24hrs or something.

This is kinda screwed to me - Right now (I know it's early days etc):

John Kerry has 1,199,724 votes and threfore 3 ECVs.
George Bush has 1,603,558 votes and therefore 39 ECVs?

WTF?

thats the democracy dude!!! its what they want to impose on us, the non-USers uncivilized humans....

Actually no.
The election recently held in Afghanistan was by popular vote. We still use this antiquaited POS, but we bring real democratic elections to third world countries. {talking to self, DAMN THAT MAKES NO SENSE} Awfully nice of us eh?

Every election year I think THIS will be the year we dissolve this absurd electoral college.

Great Idea. "all polls closing at the same time" .and I totally agree the the electoral college has got to go, the reasons for it's existance are antiquanted and no longer an issue.

Fox called it Red for Ohio a few minutes ago. :stosh: Looks like Bush has it though.
4 more years. I kissed my passport a little while ago.

Maybe next time the Democrats can run someone who isn't more conservative than Bush is?

Feingold vs McCain maybe in 2008? I can only hope, I guess.

They just said there's 250,000 votes still to count in Ohio, so there is a tiny bit of hope. It certainly doesn't look good though.

Currently: 2,585,088 vs. 2,483,105 so pretty close. Exit poles go to Kerry, but everyone is saying ignore exit poles.

Bush won.

Much bigger lead than I thought for Bush. Considering how polarized the nation was according to the media, Bush won by a significant margin. The democrats really blew it, Kerry is just too liberal for America right now. If they could have nominated a conservative democrat, then a democrat would be president. But, abortion, gay marriage, and Kerry's voting history was too liberal for the swing states. Ohio could have been won by a Democrat, considering how many jobs were lost there.

Your first paragraph was correct. Your second was merely wishful thinking.

Kerry wasn't liberal enough. He blurred way too close to Bush on many topics, and I think that didn't help get out the Democratic base. Half the monkeys in this country would vote for Stalin if he was on "their" party's ticket. The trick is getting the other ones out. Bush did it better. Kerry, not so well.

I just think that many people in Ohio and Missouri lost their jobs, were getting squeezed by healthcare costs, and were frustrated by Iraq. But, these same people were conservative Christians, and were against gay marriage and abortion. So if a democrat came along that was more conservative in morality views, then he could have picked up a bunch of votes, and I believe take the election.
