Rewelded frame question

Hey, I've been looking around my local mtb forums for some good deals on frames and I found this: http://trianglemtb.com/yabbse/index.php?PHPSESSID=25688be2a222b6e2db4f45d4d70f6837&topic=18953.0

It's exactly what I've been looking for, a FS that can do it all. As it says in the ad, one of the welds on the rear triangle broke and he got it professionally re-welded. There are some pictures in the ad of the re-weld. Does anyone have any experience riding a re-welded frame or anything of the like? I don't wanna pass up this deal, but at the same time I don't want to die because of a frame failure...:p

EDIT: I should probably also mention that I would be using this for freeride/light downhill along with cross country.

The weld doesn't exactly look like factory work, but it seems to have decent penetration and in theory a repaired weld that has been heat treated properly should be fine.

However, nothing will make you cautious and tentative like the fear that your bike is going to snap in half. If you're the type who's going to be distracted by that sort of thing, maybe save your money. I know a few years ago I put a dent in my downtube and even though I was 99% sure it was fine, it would sometimes cross my mind when I'd square up to a big jump or drop.

I used to work for a company that specialises in frame repairs - basically don't touch anything that's just been re-welded without being reinforced with gussets (which it doesn't look like that one has). It broke there for a reason the first time, and unless it's been gussetted, it'll be weaker now.
