Ricin was found in the senate building. It's made from castor beans -- same stuff that makes castor oil?

No known antidote. That's crap.

I wonder how many days have been wasted because of health threats (the anthrax scare, and now ricin).

I don't think the administration has anything to do with this. If it is ricin, it's highly poisonous with no known antidotes. The people on the "front lines" are in the post office. Doesn't really seem like a good target.

isn't venom from snakes a toxin or poison? don't they have antin-venom medicine?

I live in Colorado where you find rattlesnakes on in-city single-track... I'm still not 100% sure about snakes and venom/poison, but they often talk about it here. You should visit Colorado, it's awesome here.

Really? I have some friends who live there who say they love it. Although I think I'd be worried about the venomous snakes (especially if there is no antidote).

It's 40 degrees as the high where I live. The weather channel says it's a 37 degree high for you.....

You're right. I'm going out riding around 1 (the high for the day). These winter months -- I'm a fair weather rider -- when I figure out how to keep my feet warm and my lungs healthy at 20 degrees, I'll be riding then, too.

Anti-venom is treated less harmful venom, isn't it? I know they use venom to make it and treat it somehow.

Ricers are japanese economy cars (typically) that are upgraded (typically just the aesthetics). The Honda Civic is the most popular ricer.

Bubrub says, "My ricers goes woooowwooo." :D

Ricen or Ricin? Taken from Rice (used to describe Asian motorized products)

Taking import cars and pumping them up and putting spoilers and ground effects....think Fast and Furious the movie.

A Rice burner.....asian automobile or motorcycle.

Rice'n (I guess that is how you would spell it) is what he was joking about.

For everyone who was on the edge of their seat -- castor oil is made from castor beans (so says Dr. Frist senate majority leader -- this afternoon on CNN). He also went on to say that no one has ever died from making castor oil -- to make ricin you have to have a special process (that no one detailed -- although one commentator referred the world to a website that tells you how... honestly -- do we have to help the terrorists?)

Right, sorry if I wasn't clear. People *can* die from Ricin. However, Senator Frist wanted to assure the castor oil market that no one has ever died from making the castor oil (or presumably ingesting it like those old tv shows that said they made the kids eat it if they were bad). Castor Oil and Ricin are made from the same castor bean (but are achieved through different processes).
