how could a 350 spring fit me??

what do i mean?

the 300 spring gives me about 35% sag, with no preload. so with a little preload, i get about 33-34% sag, which is pefect for freeride/dh.

a 350 spring provides 30% sag, so i will never reach the desired 33-34%...

a 400 spring...well, it's out of the question...

drastic.

so you rely on some modeling program instead of real life experience.

steel springs can be had for like $10-30each. buy a 300, 350, and 400. dont rely solely on sag, especially trying to nitpick over 2-3% on a spring calculator. people look at sag % far too much.

also fwiw, those calculators only get you ballpark results, not exact rates. i used one to compare it to my actual sag, and it was off by 50-70lb spring rating.

A friend of me is on Commencal Supreme DH and he weighs 165 lbs and he is on a 350 spring. He just have 27-28% sag, but that's the way he likes it. He runs quite a bit of compression in the shock, but he still bottoms it when he's supposed to. He is a rather aggresive rider.

Stop doing your fancy mathematics and get out and try a spring on your shock in real life.

The spring rates calculators have provided me have been off by quite a bit as well.

So you're asking what spring to use and then dissagreeing/arguing somebody's opinion? If you know what to use why ask??? Not to mention its pointless to ask without mentioning what frame you're using.

I'm 6'6" (figured height matter since we can go further back on the bike, leverage etc, we have a different set-up ;) ) @ 210 pounds, I'm running a #350 shock spring (-/+ 20% sag) w/ FIRM spring in Boxxers, loving it
