Have many people ridden bicycles across the US? How long does it usually take?

I've had a friend do it in about sixty days, taking it Really easy, another friend doing it in about a month. I just read an article where a guy did it in three weeks on a skateboard!

I know there are couple different routes you can take, a Southern one, and two more Northerly routes. I believe some company sells maps of their routes somewhere online. Another option would be to buy the RAAM (Race Across America) map book - I think they sell it for $15 or something. It would take an enormous amount of planning, but would be fun I think. I just don't have enough time off to do it.
