Nice! How was it?
It's very good. I think this beer is a bit over rated too but that is because there is so much hype surrounding it. Pliny is all about the hops and the hop flavors are complex like a good vindaloo or mole.

I had a mini tasting with the Pliny, 90 Minute and a DIPA from Boneyard Brewing called Hop Venom. I think the hop venom is slightly better. It has a similar initial hop presence but more malt flavors develop. The 90 minute paled in comparison. I also like the Pliny better than other favorites such as Yulesmith or Double Jack.

Yeah, hyped beers can do that.

Having said that, if 90 Min paled in comparison and you liked it better than Yulesmith, I should start looking for it.

Also, the first Pliny I tried was completely unimpressive... but the second one I tried, and the clone recipe that I made, were awesome.

The first one was an older bottle. The freshness matters a lot.

You don't age your IPAs? :D
Well, 2012 was a very good year.

I suppose I should specify: the freshness matters even more than most IPAs I've had out of the bottle.

Though I did find a bottle of homebrew in the back of the closet a few months ago that was a 2 year old IPA, and wasn't bad at all...

Jessica discovered a local beverage shop that has an amazing selection of beers. Pictured are my picks for the next few days.

Any suggestions for future beverage, besides browsing through this immense thread? I don't like crazy hoppy beers, for what that's worth--Arrogant Bastard was about the worst thing I've ever had.
