It's all personal preference, some like rigid, some suspension.
Personally, I like suspension.
Rigid does make you a smoother rider, as suspension does soak up hits a little.
I think rigid will make you a bit smoother at jumping because of the consequences of messing up. I also would prefer riding rigid over suspension doing street and park.
That's just me though... and I have not ridden a real urban full suspension bike either.
I like both. seriously.
This season I've been swapping regularly between a slammed 50mm DJ2 and a rigid Rebate 1420.
I hear all this jive all the time about how rigid makes you a better rider... complete nonsense, or at least in my case. I just humbles me and makes me realize how much harder I have to try (how hard nose manuals really are, haha).
Both are super fun, I like how light and simple the rebate is, but I like the confidence and comfort of my DJ2, even if it is only getting 2" of travel.
