i'm gonna start building up my bike soon.and i'm just looking for opinions on what rims i should get. i'm thinking either mavic D321's, atomlab trailpimps, sun doublewides, or intense mag 30's. i'm going to be doing mostly skatepark and urban riding, with some dirtjumps and small drops. also, i've been thinking of running 24" wheels, due to the fact that they are stronger, and also allow faster acceleration. i'm wondering if overall (ever for trail and dj use, etc.) , it would be wise to just stick with 26" wheels.i'm a very big rider, about 6'4'' and close to 300 lbs. also, the wheels with be for my 243 hardtail, and be run with 2.5 hookworms.

I think 24" would be fine for what it sounds like you're going to be doing. Strong and fast, sounds like what you need.

you NEED 24" Arrow DHX's. Trust me. Definitely the strongest rim in the world. For what you're doing, 24s sound like a good idea.

The Mag30 is ok too but a lot of people have been pinchflatting a lot while using 'em, so at three bills, that's definitely a concern for you.

Do yourself a big favor and forget about Doublewides, they're utter crap. Would probably look like a stop sign inside of a week, with what you'd be putting them through.

i am about your same weight and use 321's on my Bullit and have no problems. strong as hell. You have to make sure the spokes are always tightened to keep em true. I also have a pair of Atomlab Aircorp's on another bike that hold up great.
stay away from the Doublewides, old style rim. newer rims are better and stronger and LIGHTER!
good luck on your new ride!
