Hey guys I had a ?

On the Ringle ZUZU pedals, they have more like traction platforms then spikes. Is there anyway to get pins or spikes like the Truvativ pedals use? It looks like the threaded part is larger but the traction part get's smaller. I'm looking for something that will give a little more traction.

I have Shimano DX pedals as well but I can't stand it when their weak little set screws bust off and I have to do surgery to remove the pins. It's just too much of a PITA for me. I'd like to keep the ZUZU's and modify them to work if necessary. I like the atom lab/truvativ pedals but heard too many issues/problems with them.

Any help on this would be great :)

I think the reason ZuZu's don't grip all that well is because they have too many pins. Don't think it's the shape of pins that's causing the problem.
No need to go into the physics aspect of it, but just try to remove some pins (leave 6-8 total on each side) and see if they feel more grippy.

Since zuzu pins thread in from the back, you're probably stuck with their proprietary pins. Maybe you should just file/grind them into points...a dremel tool should be all you need.

I hope you're not running those zuzus on SB trails. The pedals explode on contact with rocks. The front and read 'bars' have broken off on me in places as non-technical as Big Bear. Great pedal, but not for rocks. I only ever found them good for BMX track riding.

LOL that was my kind of quark/problem. I started off with Shimano DX pedals but I got so sick and tired of getting the pins out when you bash them on a rock. They just sheer off and some of them sheer'ed off so tightly into the hole it took me a while to dremel them out (or use vice grips/pliers). I read you like SB trails :) :) :) Trust me, the rocks do get old after a while....

The only gripe I have about the ZuZu's is their traction pins and their bearing feel. They are kind of thick pedals as well but not any thicker than my DX's. I thought that maybe they would be a good cheapy alternitive to an expensive pair of pedals. They've worked ok so far but I hear what you're saying with the bars breaking off. If I can't find what I need I might have to get me the truvativ pedals or atom labs (and just order a rebuild kit/pins) incase something happens since I have heard so many horror stories about their reliablity.

You say it like it's the pedals fault
i guess it can t be blamed entirely on the pedal but i ve had countless other sets of pedals that have hit rocks harder and more frequently and still are functional... my zuzus are in the trashcan...
