Snowe won't seek reelection.
Suddenly the chances of the GOP retaking the Senate just got a lot harder...
Someone on the WSJ comments page brought up the idea of her running as Obama's VP. I thought it would be a brilliant move, since she really has been governing more as a Democrat (supporting the stimulus, finance reform, opposing her party on abortion, social issues, the whole church health care thing), and the fact that Obama could shore up his female base of supporters along with playing up his moderate strengths ("I picked a person from the opposite party to be my VP since we need to tone down the hateful rhetoric if we want to get things done").
So you'd have a flame-breathing retard one one side (Romney/Santorum/Gingrich/whomever), and a dual-party ticket on the other, with the guy at the top sounding reasoned and presidential and a very non-threatening moderate woman as his running mate.
