Anyone else use one?

I have a Xen that is now cracked. I normally wear glasses and dont find myself in need of a visor anyway. I think they're purely aesthetic and have been thinking about a nice lite road helmet for trail riding. Are they any more or less protective?

I tried out a Giro Atmos and it was quite lite and comfy. Very minimalist, which I like.
Any thoughts?

i dunno...i use my closeout $20 GT xc helmet for both trail and road riding. it's super light and fits great. the colors are gross, but who cares.

I sometimes wear an E2 on the road and used to wear a Bell Ghisallo on the dirt. I don't think it makes any difference.

On a side note. If there is a Trek dealer, they have some nice road helmets from last year that seem nearly as nice as Pneumos for a fraction of the cost.

You'll be called a visorless freak! (there was a guy at my lbs they called "visorless Rob", I thought it was funny).

I only have 2 helmets, one XC and the full face. I would wear my XC lid on my road bike and get all sorts of looks from dudes downtown. I don't care for how I look, so whatever.

I have been using a Specialized Decibel for road and xc. I am such a fag, I use the tiny visor all the time now.

I don't make any distinction between road and XC helmets.
It used to be that MTB helmets had fewer, but larger vents to move air at lower speeds, like when you're climbing, and road helmets had more, but smaller, vents to move air through at higher speeds. Now a good helmet will have a lot of large vents regardless. MTB helmets have visor mounts, that's about it. I use an Atmos for MTB, but I have E2s and Pneumos too.

Maybe if you live somewhere the sun rarely shines. :p

Out here the visor's are quite useful. :D
It's just personal preference, but I never really liked riding with a visor. I think it's got something to do with the angle I hold my head when I ride, I can't see as much of the trail as I'd like. There are times when I wish I had one though, but not often enough for me to put one on...

Gotta have the visor for sun and rain.

Whatever fits your skull the best, but i usually try to find the 20 dollar cheapies when i can as well.
