I know its a few months off, but I want to plan a week+ Mtb road trip around the 4th of july this year.
Keep in mind I live in Atlanta. Never been to either place and yeah I know gas prices a going way up :mumble:

Option 1;
Drive to Snowshoe - ride for a week and check out the Monster Freeride Comp. thats scheduled for that weekend
10 hour drive - one way

Option 2;
Drive to Angel Fire - ride for a week and check out the WC event
24 hour drive - one way (have friends that live along the way I can visit / break up the drive)


What do you guys think of either place?
How's the riding - Trail / DH and light Freeride stuff?
Recommendations for places to stay? etc.
Open to other options as well?

Angel Fire looks real sweet from what i'v seen, and you cant pass on a chance ta see the worlds top pro's in action.

SnowShoe via WNC and Asheville. So long as SnowShoe is not muddy it is well worth it. (My only reference is the week I went and it was dry). If you stay in the Village at SnowShoe once you get there you will not have to touch your car.
