Anyone here ridden it?

I am intrigued but not sure about the entry fee. Looks like I would be stuck with buying Shimano wheels or Ksyriums. I could try Stan's but having had a Stan's MTB get up blow off my front wheel makes me squeamish trying it on the road. It would hurt a lot lot lot more.

Stans is coming out with a road rim soon and Hutchinson has a new tubeless carbon wheel set out. I believe Hed is going to have some tubeless wheels out this year as well. That being said, I own the Shimano DA tubeless wheels and I like them. I road tubeless for a while and I liked it...I have friends who swear by it, but I'm not hardcore one way or the other. I would look for a set of used DA wheels if you want to try...that way you're not dropping top coin to try a new technology

I've had a set of the 7850 DA wheels forever, but I haven't put tubeless tires in there yet. First it was because Vredestein doesn't make any, and now because I'm too cheap to spring for more tires...
I'm intrigued though, it's supposed to be pretty cool. But also none of my coworkers are riding them currently...

I should post up a picture of my closet which is stuffed with wheels. Especially now that I have cut my collection down to one road bike, really, it's kind of ridiculous. There are at least 10 pairs in there.
Honestly though, I really love those DA wheels, I'd be more likely to off something else.

Maybe if I post a picture of my ratty road ride you will feel sorry for me and sell me your wheels and a good but fair price.

Biased source but you know that already. I've got about 4,000 miles on Ksyriums with Fusion 2 (23mm) tires without an issue or flat. Don't get me wrong, the first time I tested the setup it was in armor and a full face. Not a single reported issue in the field to this point.

Hutchinson has the Atom (21mm) and Intensive (25mm) coming soon. For the rougher road surfaces around here I only get about 1,000-1,200 miles out of a rear Fusion 2 by the way.

What kind of wheels are you looking for, just the 7850s? Or carbon tubular, carbon clincher, etc etc?

I'm looking for a front wheel....preferably non-tubular (dunno how I feel about trying to glue a tire on on the side of the road on my commute)...that will hold up to about 5k a year (commuter) for 3+ years...

I've got ~10k-ish on my front Askium (came with the bike 3 years ago)...it's still good (still got the groove in the braking surface...for now....)

I'm set on a rear (36h 29'r rhyno-lite laced to a 105 hub...yes...I'm a hoss) but I'm thinking the front won't last forever, even on my brake-light commute...so if you have something you want to off load, then I'm your guy.

PM!!

Tubeless is the most substantial advancement in road riding in a long, long....long time. I see no reason for anyone to be riding standard clinchers now. I've got one set of RR 1.1s set up as tubeless for 'cross' (dirt road) and another set up as road wheels.

Michelin and Conti are supposedly on board, but nothing showing yet. I asked the Conti rep if/ when they would jump on board and was told "we've had a tubeless tire for 3yrs now..." to which I rolled my eyes and said that if I couldn't sell it, it didn't exist in my world.

I'll take a look and see what I have, most of my stuff is sets though.
Probably won't be until next weekend, at the earliest, I'm off to Taiwan for a week tomorrow.

No worries...I'm not in a hurry...and if what you have is a set, I might just grab it and pawn the rear off on my bro-in-law...he's passively looking for a backup rear wheel.
