K, here's the deal:
I live in London, ON & I can get a Rock Shox Ario 2.1 for $180 CAN plus tax & install charge @ my LBS. Or, I can order a Progressive 5th Element Air from the states for $145 USD plus $15 USD, so $160 USD converted equals approx $180 CAN (no additional tax, shipped as gift, so no customs either).
Both shocks would be brand new. I'm replacing the rear shock (DNM) on my 02 Norco Chaos that I had just rebuilt (I know, why not just buy another bike, too late for that).
So if I purchase the shock locally, I have support if I need it. If I order the shock from the states, I do understand that there is more of a risk. I guess the question is, which shock is better? Is the 5th element worth the risk? The taxes on the Rock Shox Ario 2.1 isn't a concern. MTBR has 118 reviews of the 5th Element shock rating it @ 3.01, and has only 2 reviews for the Rock Shock Ario 2.1 and rates it at 5.00, so that reference comparison is not that great.
