Any ideas if the Steerer tube (head tube) is 1" or 1 1/8" on the oooold ('90,-'91) Rock Shox Quadra forks? I have an old frame I want to strip and build up that has this fork on it and am praying it's 1 1/8" so my new fork options aren't severely limited! Thanks!

It could be either. That was the time frame when they were switching sizes. All of my threadless are/were 1 1/8".

Yeah, this Quadra is threaded and...unfortunately, 1".

This may be a silly question (so bear with me) but if the orig. fork was threaded, can I use a threadless fork on the same frame? Does the Headtube itself have anthing to do with it being threaded vs. threadless?

as long as you get yourself a threadless headset to replace your threaded one, you can use a threadless fork...

you'll have to use a 1" threadless fork if you are replacing a 1" threadded fork, which may be hard to find, along with its accompanying 1" stem, headset and star fangled nut.

many of the lower to mid-end Marzocchi cross country fork are still available with a 1" steerer.
