Tons of fun, 2 laps around a 32k loop, lots of wind, and little climbing. I bridged up to a lone rider up the road at around 25km into the race, thinking that I wanted to ride through the technical (rough dirty pavement with some tight corners) back stretch of the course in as small a group as possible. Ended up staying away with the other rider until the last kilometer. The pack came by like a train when we turned onto the finishing stretch and hit a wall of wind. I was way too spent to catch on, and sat up for the last 250 meters and came in 11th.
I was pretty convinced we would stay away up until the last little bit, when I saw the pack breathing down our necks.
I was absolutely wasted at the end, keeping the tempo up took a lot out of me, and I was probably doing half as much pulling as the other guy (he was a beast!).
Can't wait to do it again!
