Hey guys
I decided that for my next bike the rear derrailleur will be dead, so im looking for fully suspended rigs that have minimal chain growth so i can run the rohloff.
My pick so far
-cove gspot
-clifcat(the new black one with a floater and jackshat design cant remember the name)
-rotec very sweet but out of my price range!
gotta have 6" min.
i weight 180lbs and like the fast flowing type stuff.

thanks:)

You can get any frame as long as it has a standard QR axle. It would be cool if they made something for thru axle DH bikes. I have a Rolhoff hub on my freeride bike and I love it, I love it so much that I wanted it on my DH bike but I was limited with frames choices. Luckily I found myself a Nucleon ST frame at a good price.
You won't have to worry about chain growth because you will have a chain tension on your FS frame.

I think Guess?Who didn't pick up on the fact that you're asking about concentric pivot bikes with zero chain growth. No chainguides or tensioners required. Add horizontal dropouts, a singlespeed chain and a fat sproket and you're set. Nice and quiet, reliable, etc.

You're right about the gspot and rotec. I don't think the gspot's the way to go, but the rotec's sweet. Another would be the Lensport "concentrilink" (sp?). I've seen a few at Whistler (without Rohloffs)and they look beefy. Same class as the rotec.

My favorite would be a BMW Racelink with the old slotted dropouts. You'd have to find a way to bush the 12mm down to 9, but I've heard it's been done. You could get rid of the ugly/noisy rollers and guide.

As much as I like your plan, one downside would be the extra unsprung weight at the end of the swingarm. I bet the rear would not be able to absorb chatter as well. It would skip over the high spots instead of following the terain.

Too bad the Nicolai TST is way out of reach. Bikes like that are the future.

Good luck.

From what I was told, "If your frame has ANY suspension, then a chain guide is required". Before building up my UFO frame I wanted a Arrow DS3, the same pivot linkage as a G-Spot and my LBS said I still needed one.
If it wasn't Interbike week I would call up someone from Rohloff for the facts. It would be cool to see a Racelink with a Rolhoff.

I plan on fitting a Rohloff to a racelink this winter. We'll be making custom axels and other parts to make this work.

You better post pics after doing it.
Are you going to have a chain tension? :)

I dont mind the chainguide its the rear tensioner leg that im trying to avoid
The Speedbone on the left side of the swingarm, Right. I'm going to do away with mine once I find a special left side dropout that compatible w/ the Rohloff for my frame.
Does anyone know how I can get Nicolai drop-outs? I've been trying for months w/ no luck.

Hell no :) The Eccentric BB should take care of things, and if it doesn't a shadow conspiracy halflink chain would.

i ran my tmx singlespeed for a day @ whistler for giggles. it was pretty cool - perfectly silent drivetrain. lack of gears on a 50 lb bike is a bit limiting though. a rohloff implementation would be the cats ass.

Not to be a nerd, but the eccentric BB is for the first (primary) chain. The second chain needs some love too.
If you rotate the bb the first chain will tension then that will be transmitted to the second chain.

Well hopefully he'll brouse thru this site and PM me.
My friend is going to Interbike with the NYC Freeride crew and I gave him a mission to find me drop-outs for my UFO and Nucleon. I told him to find Karl Nicolai himself. Maybe he'll come thru, if he's not wacked 24/7 hanging out with the Marzocchi bomber girls. Man, I wish I was there.

Nicolai has specific Rohloff mounts for their frames, so you might want to consider the UFO, Helius FR and ST, and maybe even the Lambda?
Cheers
