how can you qualtiy control a shock...
How many shocks had bad adjusting knobs? This was from a new machine that was machining the part wrong. How does the wrong part get past any type of a Q.C. department? If there is enough of a problem with the knob that it scores the threads letting oil leak it should not take much to notice this, with the different ways of inspecting parts.

As for the whole shock you cannot really check it but check all the parts that go into it. It sounds like Romic has issues with assembly and using inadequate parts. I cannot tell you how many brand new suspension forks feel better just by rebuilding them when you first get them. Suspension companies seem to be skimping on quality lately in an effort to produce more. Just sounds like Romic has gone a little to far with this.

To follow up on my earlier post, Romic repaired and returned my shock already!! Can't remember what day I sent it in last week, but *wow* that's a fast turnaround. (I'm in SoCal though, so shipping is only about a day each way.) I think I had two silver knobs before (or maybe a red one on the rebound). Now I have silver rebound and blue compression knobs, so obviously they changed some stuff around in there.

Hopefully this will be the last time I *have* to send it in. I do admit I fidle with the compression knob a lot (anti-bob on for long climbs, off for descents) so that may have played a part. Mine leaked at the limit screw though, and not at the knob. I'll "play with it" less from now on though.

Yeehaw, back in business...thanks Romic!

Toodles,

See if you can get a fifth with remote res. I am fairly sure that petri from pushi had a fifth with remote res. You could also get a swinger with remote res. Fox DHX will come with remote res next year as well. Lots of options.

But look at it this way, a v10 is going to set you back $4500AUS right? The turner will be around $3500. Buy an avy from craig for $900AUS and you will be almost square and have a better bike IMO.

Jump on that plane to sydney and come have a ride of my DHR

I don't think running a progressive shock on the Turner is a good idea since the linkage is progressive by nature.

as for quality control...there are many tests that can be done BEFORE releasing a shock. Every shock manufacturers should live by these 3 quality standards:
- Never accept defective parts
- Never produce defective parts
- Never release defective parts
over look any one of those and the chances of your shock failing has greatly increased

hey acadian, ive picked apart a few romics and i really cant see why one could consider it "progressive" any more than a fox avy. any help there?

Because of the adjustable air volume on the 5th, or Manitou Swinger for that matter, the rider can adjust the progressivity or linearity of the shock to match the bike.
