I was looking at the shock choices that are now between a 5th Element and a Romic. I was wondering what shock would best be used for hucking? I know that the 5th is a good racing shock but I know little about the romic though. Thanks for any help that can be givin.

I have no experience on the 5th, but I can tell you that the Romics are VERY good for that kinda stuff. It has a much larger oil volume, shaft diameter bla bla bla vs. Fox and the others.

nah you definitely want a shim-stack shock like Fox Vanilla RC or Avalanche, rather than stable-platform shocks like 5th or Romic?

shim-stacks are more reactive and can be setup better for big drops, in the UK the Fox importer Mojo are offering Werks valving for shore style riders for about $100.

Ya now that I have ordered the romic you tell me that they are not good for dropping, I guess that I will be doing more downhill style riding more than dropping. I still want to drop but I think that I will limit my self to the 10 ft range for now until I get a burlier bike like the Bullit or the Banshee Scream. I have an Giant AC2 wich holds its own but I guess is more on the cross country side with 6 inches at it's highest travel setting.

I personally know people who regularly do 20-25 foot drops with a Romic and have no problems. But even if you do have a problem, Romic will fix it no questions asked and it won't take 6 months for you to get it back like some other companies. The boys at Romic are first class.

I'd go for the romic, it's overbuilt and is more likely to put up with that stuff.... The 5th element is a great shock, but you don't need all the engineering that goes into it, its better for keeping your wheel on the ground while flowing through the jumps and chattering over the marbles.
