That sound you hear is the sound of Joker unzipping his pants.
They weren't on in the first place. I do love how the left leaning news outlets correlate libertarians with the tea party which has become an extension of the hardcore religious right of the republicans.

Seriously? The Tea Party originally *was* libertarian, and it's only after it got taken over by Beck/Palin/American Crossroads/etc that it veered off into batsh!t crazy right-winger land. It still shares many of the same viewpoints like lower taxes (check), smaller government (check), less regulation (check), etc.

The Tea Party just has some very UNlibertarian viewpoints like any/all social issues (although Ron Paul is anti-abortion), stronger military, government assistance when it directly affects them (SS, Medicare, blah blah blah), and so on.

I give Ron Paul and the rest of the actual libertarians credit for having a coherent set of beliefs... The Tea Party is just a bunch of right-wing assholes who are pissed that there's a black guy in the WHITE house.

Agree on all counts. Most libertarians DID move on and stay true libertarians when the Tea Party went crazy. There is a difference.

The true believers were as pissed at GWB for spending money that we don't have as they are about Obama. The bullsh!t teapartiers were perfectly fine when it was Bush spending the money, and up in arms about Obama doing the same thing...
