The RL9 was one crazy bike rode through everything like it wasn't there super plush - loved that bike - I loved my Yeti DH9mono as well but the RL9 was a step up, was a bit on the porky side but once moving you did not feel it at all. Sully is also a great guy and will go out of his way to help with anything he can.
I think they were looking at Split Pivot bikes for trail bikes and still using the Lawwill design for the new DH rig - the RLi - see the attached designs for the new rig...View attachment 110159View attachment 110160View attachment 110161
You might try grcomponents@yahoo.com and see if he replies. He last updated a Manta profile in August of 2010 with that e-mail address. I'd try that before calling the listed phone number.Anybody Know How To Contact Sully?
Hey Its Sully and yes Rotec is alive and well.Anybody Know How To Contact Sully?
Yeah hopefully Sully will pick up again with a Pinion all MTN version. Shame that DH one never got made. Looked good, but probably heavy, not that it matters as much with a gearbox bike with little weight out back, although the swingarm looks pretty weighty on this..
dear baby jesus did this bike ever get me excited a number of years ago. I seriously thought by now we would be seeing a far more amount of gear box bikes available to the public compared to what has actually happened.
You're ridden that bike?Rotec is finally back again, still the nicest suspension design out there imo.

Really?, because most of the lawills really sucked, and all of the concentric pivot bikes have always sucked. What's so nice about it?Rotec is finally back again, still the nicest suspension design out there imo.

i remember the pull shock straight 8 i had for a bit being like a couch and able to plow through anything but it couldnt pedal all too well. especially compared to the single pivot foes i had at the time.LOL, can't wait to not see that one produced as well...
I still hold the early straight six as one of the best riding bikes I've owned. The straight 8 with a pull shock was no slouch either. Didn't ride the late model Rotecs nor Yetis.
Could definitely plow, very couch-like, pedaling was mediocre, braking was great, solid and confidence-inspiring.i remember the pull shock straight 8 i had for a bit being like a couch and able to plow through anything but it couldnt pedal all too well. especially compared to the single pivot foes i had at the time.
I was younger, dumber, and stronger then. And I could afford only one bike, so of course I needed an 8" travel DH sled with a MR Dirt on the front. Why are you riding a 45lb DH bike XC?
I thought the 6 was actually a great trail bike. Similar to what folks are riding now as trail bikes.
wait really? what about the Pslope, kona Bass, dobermann le pink, black market killswitch, or NS switch?I've been wanting a 4" SS 26 or 27.5 for years now. This is the closest thing I've seen yet. I didn't think a bike company would take this direction. Don't know what to think, will reserve opinion until I can take one smashy smashy.
Were falling rate right? Why are you riding a 45lb DH bike XC?

I think so. I remember the 6 being so... i.e. was great until it got to bottom out territory, then it seemed to blow through. Bottomed hard and often because this was in the days of seeing how much you could drop. I had the progressive linkage on the 8 (fwiw) and so that wasn't falling rate. Were falling rate right?
i wonder how many times they had to repair that carbonMade by BTR guys (I guess)
Don't forget the Kona A and Lenz Milkmoney.wait really? what about the Pslope, kona Bass, dobermann le pink, black market killswitch, or NS switch?
So what makes you think a concentric B.B. pivot bike with a falling rate is going to do better than 7 other bikes with the same or better design? Concentrics are super fun park bikes but trash on trails. They corner well and jump fairly but they aren’t good bikes. Not sure what the rotec variant does differently than any other one. The rotec doesn’t even use a rising rate linkage like have of them do.none of those bikes ride over actual terrain variations worth a shit...
All the concentric bikes out there have shit geo for proper trail smashing. They're great park bikes and the Lenz/Kona are xc rippers but wheres the moto trail bike geo. The goal isn't to improve on the concentric it's to get one built around proper geometry. Stick a stiff coil spring in that'll take hits and fend off the mash and we are good to go.They corner well and jump fairly but they aren’t good bikes.
Air springs are flat in the mid stroke, so no.Wouldn't an air spring deal with a falling rate better? GHY in Renton has one of these in stock- despite its potential shortcomings, I think it looks like a fun bike
i'll admit, i'm completely ignorant of all the specifics when it comes to suspension kinematics, but i assumed a concentric pivot with the wheel attached to the vertical dropout link instead of the chainstay would ride better...So what makes you think a concentric B.B. pivot bike with a falling rate is going to do better than 7 other bikes with the same or better design?
