So after pleading "poverty" to get out of paying for the search for her, she gets a book deal to profit off this stupid ordeal.

Runaway Bride Makes A Deal

ATLANTA — Runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks has made a deal with a company that's pitching a movie about her life to the networks.

Regan Media out of New York says it's acquired all rights to the life stories of Wilbanks and her fiancée.

The 32-year-old disappeared from her Duluth, Georgia home on April 26, four days before her wedding. She claimed she'd been abducted but later admitted she'd run away.

The district attorney says he's disturbed by the movie deal. The town spent $43,000 searching for her. Wilbanks has repaid about $13,000.

OK I actually think having to repay the city for searching is kind of funny. She jsut dissapeared and her family raised a stink. But the fact that she was to pay back the expenses and pleas out of alot of it because she didn't have $ to give them is kind of funny. Especially now that some sleazoid book publisher is going to give her a half of a million dollars :-)eek: ) and that doesn't include the TV movie deals that are bound to come along....

I find this sort of funny, and scary at the same time. I think she should have heaps of community service for the stunt she pulled....but to plea down repayment then get $500,000 for a book deal is insane.

Some person on TV mentioned the Son of Sam law. Something to do about stopping people from financially benefiting from their dubious deeds. I don't think that it applies here....but it somehow doesn't seem correct either.....

Oh well.....anyone got a 18yo girl I can take on a "caming trip for a week" in secret? They can look but they won't find us....and I can make some money as a falsely accused kidnapper.
