That is stereotypical Republican thinking though... It's how GWB won a second term, he played the war card and got enough of the mouth-breathers to support him. Republicans can't actually imagine a President getting re-elected through hard work, a successful economy, and public acceptance of your ideas.

edit: I'd love to see a Liberal commentator point out that if McCain had won in 2008, this is what his reelection strategy would've been. As spoken by Palin.
