Running a 1/2 in. chain on a triple chainring, O.k. or no?

So I have a SS cruiser and now I'm running a KMC 1/2'' chain on a true single speed ring.
What would be the issue if I ran it with a ramped and pinned (middle) chainring on the front?
I haven't tried it as of yet, has anybody else?

Thanks,
George

as long as you have the tension correct you shouldnt have any problems other than wearing out the ring faster then with a 8 or 9 spd chain.

Cool,

I don't really care about wearing out the chainring and the chain is cheap too, so I'll just run an 8/9 in the front then,
thanks guys.

Also, would anybody know if it's possible to set up a chain tensioner on cruiser-style drop outs?

Thanks again,
George

Does the frame has a derailer hanger? If not you'll have to resort to a ghost ring in order to achive optimal tension.

so that's basically just held in place by the chain tension? Doesn't it fall out if the chain moves side to side?
I have no idea. I've never seen one in use. In theory, if your tension is high enough to limit chain bounce and your chainline is straight, it should work.
