Actually just a SM question as in Service Mark.
I need to TM a name.
One name I'm considering is already Service Marked.
( FYI: Which is basically the same thing as a trademark but for the service industry)
Do you think it would be a problem?
These are entirely two different industries, the SM belongs to a church.
The company I'm researching for will be a manufacturer.
Do you think I should tell them to bag the name and pick something else?
I've done a little bit of initial research but, the old case of Apple Computers vs. Apple ( Record Label of the Beatles ) makes me feel uneasy.
They agreed it was OK for years because in the late 70's early 80's what the hell did computers have to do with Music. Than MIDI started and Apple Records sued Apple Comp. for name usage. Then settled for a large sum of money and everything was cool again because it had to do with Music Creation and was classified similar to an instrument.........until iTunes. Now Apple is definitely in the music distribution biz. blah blah blah...
any opinions welcome....feel free to derail if there is a greater entertainment value to be had.
