i've been running the dh center at whiteface mountain just outside of lake placid,n.y. for the past 2 years for a local bike shop.
i have just been informed by orda[that's the state agency that runs the mountain] that they no longer will allow mountain biking at whiteface.
they run the gondola anyways for the busloads of tourist,and we do all trail maint,bike patrol,and take care of all cost associated with the dh center.
they have no logical reason to do this.
they are non biking lazy state workers that feel there job would be easier without mountain biking.
with over 2500 vertical [mostly all singletrack] and a new high speed gondola it is a major mistake for them to be doing this.lake placid could become a major east coast mountain biking destination.
we need your help.
if a few 100 letters end up on the right desk maybe it's not to late to change things.
