if you are using a cutting board on a granite countertop, be sure to put a wet towel under it so it won't slide while you are cutting. i usually do this but neglected to yesterday, as i made a last minute decision to cook the green beans with some chopped pancetta.

at least hilary found the fingernail before she added it to the pan.

and i just sharpened my knives last weekend...

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
You can get a roll of grip liner for a few bucks at Home Depot. Cut it to size for all of your cutting boards. Keeps everything nice and secure with no marking. Works better than the wet towel.

Well that was a rookie move;) Yesterday I was working on my parents kitchen remodel, I was soldering a new line under the house to the ice maker box, when hot dripping solder found it's way to the one hole in my glove. Damn that burns, it's been 11 years since that last happened.

nah its just that squishy rubbery mat. just something you throw down beforehand. dishwasher would thrash it.
