saint 800 rear derailleur question

There should be a notch on where the derailleur bolts onto the rear axle for the horizontal axle models. This notch keeps the derailleur in place on the dropout.

Wasn't the "best" rear mech, but totally BOMBPROOF. Definitely lived up to the name.

It's not a notch so much as a tab that matches the slot in the dropout.

If you have one, try and install it. It will be obvious.

Usually, Shimano has a PN designation but mine just says RD-M800

Follow me drunken type if you look down the axle and the notch is at seven o'clock to the pivot bolt at 6 o'clock it is a vert model.
