Anybody know where they're available for sale? I just want the two cage plates. My Google fu is lacking, apparently.

Yeah, it would be better than an XT mid cage but I'd still rather find an actual short cage if possible.

you should be able to get it by calling shimano. not sure if they will talk to anybody though. you might have to get your lbs to contact shimano. usually they will either send a part or just warranty the whole thing.

If the OP is running a close ratio cassette, as is common in DH bikes, this is not the best plan. The radr cage makes the upper pulley travel at a greater angle to the horizontal to better track the profile of wide ratio cassettes. On a road cassette, you're going to get crappy shifting in the bigger sprockets & have to run more b-tension than normal.

Sorta. I'm running an 11-25 5 speed setup, so it's more like the small half of a 10s mountain cassette.

I'd still rather have a proper short cage.
