just got a saint for the front of my bike, i have a 888 fork and the correct adapter. the problem is the rotor and caliper do not align properly. is this a known problem with a simple fix? just space it out?
I had a similar problem with both my 05' and 06' 888. You didn't specifiy what year your 888 is, but I'm guessing it's an 06'???
If I understand you correctly - it's really more of a spacing problem.
My caliper was too far outboard, (rubbing the side of the rotor facing the spokes) so I used a really skinny set of washers from the LBS parts bin to space them out, and it worked perfectly.
If the caliper is pushing too far inboard (towards the center-line of the bike - like if you drew an imaginary line down the center of the tires/frame), try to get the brake mounts on the fork faced using the proper 20mm adapter for the 888 axle with the facing tool. What this does is prefectly line up a cutting tool with the face of the brake mounts, and then remove some material until the surface on the fork is completely flat and straight. This process is similar to getting the head tube faced.
actually my 888 is an '04. and the caliper was too far outboard. i ended up using a hayes mag adapter (the spacing is identical) and it works perfectly now.
