I think you answered your own question........ NO its for center lock rotors, maybe there is an adapter out there. You could use the shimano rotors with your Hayes though.
you can use Shimano Saint rotors with Hayes brake calipers. I know for a fact since that is how my hardtail is set up. Works great, the center spline thingy is awesome too, way easier than the six bolts.
Hayes calipers should work with Shimano rotors provided the diamteres are the same. Thickness of the rotor would be the only other thing to check but I don't think it would be a problem. Adapters are available for the XT/XTR Centerlock to 6-bolt, I have not seen any for Saint Centerlock yet (not sure if there is enough room to do it).

Your friend is an IDIOT, I have mounted Saint Rotors to the hubs, also used the rotors on the Hayes brakes with no problems. They have the smae width measurement, and even if they didn't Hayes pad returns are based on when the pads touch the rotor. So the " michanic" was wrong
As far as adapters, problem solvers will work, but only with the XC style hubs, the Saint uses a larger flange than the XC hubs (XTR, XT, New HONE etc)
