post of the month, hahaI wonder if Sam will post on here about the
'EPIC FAILURE BEWARE'?
i didnt miss a thing. You point out not seing sarcasm and in the same post miss it. Good job
The real problem here is that he was running carbon nipples and carbon spokes.
Uh, no. If you look at the wheels, they've got normal diameter spokes. Way too thin to be CF. There were some CF nipples made for normal spokes back in the day, but if memory serves, there's a reason I haven't seen them in a while, and I really doubt Sam's using anything like that. Was he??
No, he wasn't. It was just a joke to add on to the jokes about his frame being carbon. Was he??
Also, I'm sold on those cranks at this point, it's crazy they didn't need to be replaced.
Seems like some people would believe anything! No, he wasn't. It was just a joke to add on to the jokes about his frame being carbon.
Really? I tore both of mine within a week when I used to do jiu jitsu (didn't realize I'd done it the first time) and couldn't lift either arm above my shoulder for about 6 months, or participate in any physical activity involving my arms for about a year. Maybe I was just unlucky, but my understanding was rotator cuffs were pretty bad to tear.possible torn rotator cuff huh?
nothing too serious thankfully, had two done myself. depending how torn it is, he might still be able to ride upcoming WC's
im sure each case is different, but i tore mine twice and my mother and father both tore theirs and we were all able to do activities (with pain of course)Really? I tore both of mine within a week when I used to do jiu jitsu (didn't realize I'd done it the first time) and couldn't lift either arm above my shoulder for about 6 months, or participate in any physical activity involving my arms for about a year. Hope Sam gets back on the bike and to his usual ways soon especially before Champery!
On his bike, this is total e-speculation and no inside info or anything purely discussion talk.
But to me this years Demo seems more compact, maybe an illusion of exaggerated swoopy tubes? but looks even shorter in the TT than last years Sam Hill Demo ver!
The thing is what we forget in these threads is the sheer speeds Sam goes compared to us mere mortals and many of us who think they go fast, apart from wheel base and angles these matter at speed for stability, these guys know how to corner they don't need help as much as some of us here with a more compact setup!
For ex the Sunday even in std prod vers has had a much longer TT for a given WB over most other prod frames out there, Sams sml Sunday ran longer TTs for given wheel base, this adds significantly to stability when ramming ****.
If you watch any video of Sam esp in slow mo in his Sunday days, one of his key elements to his riding over others is his upper body stillness no matter how hard he rams stuff, corners, jumps, this creates stability and imo a lot of his speed secrets in the rough, but in the end its a total package, rider bike, setup desire, then technique!
I'm not so sure his new Demo is providing the same setup [forget material].
And now even more important on these tracks, even Peaty went back supposedly to his normal bike the Stallion named because it was so big even compared to Minnars in the front tri, that said hes been tied up with lots of off the bike stuff in the off season, Maybe GM even with his early season inury has had more time to get used to the newer V10?
So for Peaty how much time has he had trying to get used to the new lower slacker V10, maybe it dosen't suit him as well as the higher static geo and stepper static angles of the older V10, missing out on so much training time seems to be hurting him more I suspect but as World Champ he deserves it?
But it does show as Ive read here many times pros often stick with what they know because it works for them, not because they haven't tried other options, because they test stuff to heck, sometimes what works with ya style is best, like wide bars, I love em but I was riding wide bars back in the 80s & 90s doing Moto its taken way too long to come into MTB, but hey its not for everyone, I remember though Peaty and Rennie running bar extenders years ago too, some things work some don't.
So Sams bike is it a contributing factor for his Style, though seems it may suit Brendon F?
Sams been running those wheels for years btw!
2 of the biggest dominant riders so far this year are not dominating! Peaty & Hill....
Both on totally new rigs, just e spec or coincidence or something else?
Maybe still too early to tell?
Just my observation fwiw, I have no smack down to add!
Ps
Go the DH World cups
&
Go the Real World Cup!
&
Go the All Whites
Do you have to be such a DICK all the time Dave or such a right fighter!let's clear up some E-spec for you....
Sam's new bike is what Sam asked for... not something he was meerly given by specialized. So let's assume it suits him just fine.
as for the Santa Cruz... those bikes were finished right before the season. Greg rode one for a day after Seaotter before the whole team got new bikes at a training/testing camp before Maribor.
they tested old bikes, new bikes different settings, etc all with timed runs and all went faster on the new bikes. All of this info was reiterated in interviews with riders, owners and engineers at Santa Cruz and posted on multiple websites (RM, Vital, Dirt, etc)
Steve has not ridden/raced anything other than his new carbon v-10 since taking delivery of it. wherever you got the idea he went back to his old bike, forget about it.
do you think for a minute thayt the changes from the old v-10 to the new were not made at the request of the riders? they are the driving force behind all changes and evolution of the Santa Cruz V-10. it is not a case of the riders being forced onto something that they did not request in the first place.
for the amount of time people spend trying to over think, speculate, and invent things, if you spent half the time reading the text next to and under photos you might actually gain some real knowledge
im sure some cell phone cam video will pop up on youtubeI still just want to see a video of it happening
Are these just random quotes from you or are you trying to say something???Ive no doubt Sam's got the bike he asked for developed etc, does that mean he got it right not necessarily.
But maybe, I'm just throwing it out there, I'm not making excuses for him or anyone, just a point of view!
It's DH and **** happens and always will that's why its one of the greatest sports out there imo!
And in no way am I suggesting Speccy made a bad bike or forced him into riding something he dosen't like, Specchy from what Ive seen are fully behind what Sam wants and suits the team.
Same for the Syndicate!
I'm just raising a possibility, same with SP, Im sure it was great where it/they were tested, even you said it was a late arrival, that does not mean it suits the tracks them but maybe it does time will tell that.
GM seems dialed and I said that as I did also with Brendog!
It doesn't mean it suits everyone or that maybe the enveloped t go to the next level is pushed a bit too far when others have consolidated have a great platform they know in heat of battle!
Maybe just a bit much to get used to this early in the season, remembering its a short season.
And the Syndicate are trying allot of new the this year all at once.
Sometimes that leads and sometimes that bleeds.
Props to them though.
I just hope to see both Peaty and Sam back at the top soon, esp Peaty hes a bloody legend.
Go Peaty! Still my pick for Worlds @ Mt St Anne!
"Go the Lakers", go the "All Whites"!
Braaaaaaaaap..
i couldnt get one legitimate point out of the post...blablabla
Nothing you say actually makes any sense.Ive no doubt Sam's got the bike he asked for developed etc, does that mean he got it right not necessarily.

Not sure I agree with this statement. There are a few guys who are capable of winning the series, Hill was one of them but he cocked up (twice) and now he won't. Staying injury free is just one of the many things that go into winning a WC overall and Sam has failed at that this year. Who ever does win will not have failed. As much fun as it is to see Sam get beat by underdogs, it sucks to see him out because of how this was supposed to be his "perfect season." Anybody who wins the races he doesn't attend will have the "but what if Hill had raced that day?" question kind of clouding their glory. Let's hope he's back soon.
That was sarcasm right?Sam should have less time drinking over the off season and more time preparing.
Fixed it for you.Sam should have spent less time preparing his new bike and more time drinking and reading Ridemonkey over the off season.
