See the video game awards on Spike last night? Sammy J. wins for best performance in a game, for his officer tenpenny role in GTA San Andreas. Then, at the end of the show, GTA SA wins game of the year. He goes back up to accept the award. In his speech he refers to the game as "Grand Theft Auto 2", twice! Like it's the friggin sequel or something. Talk about disrespect to EVERYONE in the room and everyone involved in making the game. The whole show was an insulting mess, with Oscar Delahoya's totally botched presentation, and Motley Crue's train wreck of a performance.

The guys totally deserve more respect....GTA SA is the best thing to come to the PS2....

The guys who make the game work in the same office building as my girlfriend in Edinburgh(Scotland). The game was that successful they gave everyone a month off paid...

This could very well be the nerdiest post ever on RM. They have an award show on TV for video games? And they have actors who show up for it?

As if we didn't have enough stupid award shows, now computer geeks feel they need to be treated like stars. Joan Rivers and her skeletal daughter should have showed up and made fun of them all. This reminds me of that funny geico commercial where Peyton Manning is chanting "Way to go insurance adjusters, way to go!"

I have GTAIII and Vice City and will get San Andreas once the price comes down, but watching well-compensated trekkies circle jerk on TV? It's just beyond me...

No I don't make games, but its still a multi-billion dollar industry, thats why hollywood is interested (or anyone else for that matter...)

Nigel Quarless works for the gaming industry and rides better than any of us...

Yeah - one of my boys in Austin does the same. I have a few friends that ride and do it. They might not have gone to that awards show, though.

Hey, lots of people play computer games. I'm guessing not too many people give a rat's ass about an award show for the programmers who made the game, any more than you would give a rat's ass about an award show for the person who came up with the antilock brake system on the new Corvette.

Most people don't give a rats ass about the person who directed or made the special effects for a movie either but they control what is on the TV...

I like how you can run around town killing whoever, and however 9chainsaw rocks) then the cops come and you shoot 40 of them and you get busted..only to be back on the streets the next day. Pretty realistic if you ask me...... (sarcasm, but in what way?)

Easy Greezy - I was asking if he was a programmer. I have several friends that are. In retrospect, this is far less nerdy than that Pogopalooza that was on xpogo.com.

And the award for.....$hitting your pants the most times in a year goes to.....
Ethel Hatfield.
Ethel cannot accept her award tonight, as she is hooked up to a feeding tube, but she wants to give a shout out for depends for making her life a little easier.

:stosh: thread if there was ever one.
Samuel L. owns, and if you need further proof just go watch the diner scene from Pulp Fiction again.

do it, it's great. seriously, i liked it better than _reservoir dogs_ or any of the kill bill movies (haven't seen #2 though). PF is the only one which tops it.

And people that then critique the critiques. Sam Jackson SHOULD know more about this game, or at least the TITLE, as he was paid a pretty penny for staring in it. This has nothing to do with his ability as an actor. I knew someone would bring up Pulp Fiction, one of the greatest roles/movies ever. This is about a paycheck-taking, mirror-checkin, disrespectin, hollywood phony. You should have heard him talkin' about how great the game was and all. Probably never played it. Oh yeah, bikes rule.

So your contention is that the proper thing for him to do would be to say "I'm not a gamer but I hear this game kicks ass"? I bet the game developers would have loved that. Actually he probably was getting paid by those same people to go up there and rave about the game. It's not his fault if he doesn't play video games.

It is not that we are saying what he did was right or wrong,
we are simply saying that we don't give a damn.
Its a video game.
Its like finding out that Pac Man was really gay, and Ms. Pac Man
was created to fool the public.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Okay, I'm gonna try to stop posting on this thread. I don't care if he plays the game. I just really think that he should've commited the NAME of the game to memory before going up there on national television and looking like a tool.
