Got roasted on yesterday's ride, compounded by our water filter not working properly when we needed to use it to replenish half way through.

So today will be a lot of nothing.

The capital of Northwest Territories is empty..

Looks like the fires near Kelowna are still mostly on the outskirts of town, but lots of pictures of houses and resorts being lost.

Mid 60s, so coffee on the deck
it was below 70 until about 10 minutes ago. screen door already closed thusly. we haven't had many 90+ Freedom Unit days this year, but have had several in a row now.

anyway, /me is working this weekend. 7 am-5 pm, from home unless I need to run in for a fluoro procedure.

We squeaked by yesterday, and it cooled off pretty well last evening, so I'm still somewhat optimistic we'll make it through this summer sans A/C.

Not being smokey has helped quite a bit.

Reporting for weathermonkey here in Bromont, where it's cloudy and 57 freedoms out. 60% chance of rain in the forecast. Great day for the QC dh championship race on a freshly groomed trail; gonna be muddy.

Rain jacket or just long sleeve shirt....hmmm

Nice cool morning here.
Had a creak that I thought was bb related, upon further investigation, my old trusty xtr pedals are doing their best to die. Thankfully the rebuild kit cost almost as much as new pedals. Thanks Obama.

I ran five miles this morning and felt like the ass end of an ass. I was going to run 14 miles but quit. My tank was empty. I will most likely do some sort of light pedaling this afternoon. Wife is out entertaining her mom, so I'll meet them for lunch then pedal a bike. No MTB though until next week per ween doctor's orders.

Stuff around the house this weekend. A little work on my daughter’s car, new wheels on the 4Runner last night and I may even clean it today.

I probably should ride a bike at some point. I’ve been really bad about doing that lately.

And of course she's holding strong in 4th in heat 1 and the chain comes off. Engine mount has loosened again. Mediocre mechanic strikes again. I'll have the shop look at it next weekend before CKT.

God dammit. 6 bacon strips in the back tire, just to get back to the car. And this tire only had the BC trip on it. 3 holes in the tire.

Happened in the exact same spot that I double flatted last year too. Girlfriend also flatted there. I need to go kick that rock.

Might just call it a day and go restock on tubes for tomorrow. I assume new tires will be $$$ around here.

BUSY at the put in, much less so on the water but Charcoal did so good with all the people and both swamp donkey encounters:

This male 2-3 year old was in a side channel, so even though we were on the opposite bank, it was only 15' or too close for comfort.

Males are uncommon on this stretch until RUT season -- checks calendar, where did summer go?!?

The mom in this cow calf pair watched Charcoal the whole time we were there (and pulled over) ~7 minutes of stink eye, but the river was wide there and we were plenty far away.

Don't worry, I have a save the rox campaign going. I said I'd kick it, not take it out. :D

Going up the chairlift at Panorama a few weeks ago, I saw some kid out there doing trail work (ie, kicking rocks off the trail). I yelled at him "save the rocks!!!". He looked puzzled. :dead::rofl:

I used to move shit around at northstar all the time. A product of super dry dirt and shit rolling into trails, me getting bored, and general bad trail layout.

100% of the time someone would yell something dumb about lEaRn hOw tO rIdE from a chairlift at me Id yell at them to come see what I was doing. Not one of the few that actually did could even get to the lines I was opening up. One thing about northstar is youll never run out of rocks, just constant discovery of new ones as the trails blow away in a strong breeze

Negative. I had a bad noodle experience. Still flatted with one and had to ride out of the forest with that thing on my back (I ended up cutting it into pieces..).

Ideally I should have a DH casing tire on there, I just have a DD. Though I suspect this rock is like a knife.

Might swap to Continentals if they are a little more robust...maybe?

8/9. She had a gap well ahead in 7th when she spun on debris after someone went off the lap prior. Took almost half a lap to get back onto the track and that was that.

Dad of the kid that finished 4th dropped into our tent after the second heat. She was visibly upset at the placement 8/9, so he wanted to pop in and give her some encouragement. Told her that it's clear that she's fast, because she has moments where she will hunt people down, closing gaps really fast. That she just needs to be confident in herself and her ability. Because the times when she needs to be aggressive, confident in what she's doing, and trust herself, is when she lets people by or gaps open.

He gave us his number so that she can practice with Braxton on the weekends. Next weekend is at Action, then IMI. So we'll probably plan to drive with them at IMI over the next few weekends. Having faster kids to drive with will make a difference.
