Saving google earth images to open in areas with no network?

I'm about to take a trip in BFE for several days of backcountry skiing. We'll be about 20 light years from anywhere that's ever seen internets. We'll also be in a lodge every night making plans for the following days. I've got topo loaded on my laptop but I'd like to have access to google earth because you get some info from images that topo just doesn't provide.

I know the area I'd want to save but is there any way to do this so that I can pull up all the interactive features within the program away from an internet connection?

I know I can save images out of GE so I'll do that as a last resort but just figured I'd get all the features if I could.

Thanks!

Google Earth has a decent sized cache that you can make use of offline.

I was going to post a link to a site, but there are a whole bunch of sites that describe it and it appears that there are some tricks to storing multiple caches if you want them... so I'm posting the Google search link instead:

Try setting your cache to the maximum (2gb), navigating to the area in question, then shut off your internet connection and go back there.

This link suggests you can create multiple 2gb caches if that's not large enough for you:
