Hi guys, pretty handy forum here.

I ride a 06 SC Heckler and the Progressive 5th element air that came bundled with the bike has collapsed. I'd read bad things on mtbr about this shock, but I could never really afford to replace it.

Now that I am forced to, I would like to hear some suggestions on decent alternatives. I'm 6ft 6 and weigh 225lbs.

I've been looking at the Fox DHX Air 5.0, but I'm not sure if this the the most suitable thing for someone my size. Would a coil shock be better?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ollie.

DHXA = teh suck on the Heckler.

DHXC would be the bees knees. I'd also consider a Float R or RP23 and have it "pushed" (www.pushindustries.com).

I ran a 5th coil then a Float R on my Heckler. Didn't have any problems with the Float at all.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I dont think I can afford a brand new shock (I'm a student), so I've been looking at what ebay has to offer. This is what I've come up with:

Fox DHX 5 (Coil)

It seems just right. My only concern is that my 5th element was 7.875x2.0" (190x51) and the DHX is 200mm. But I've had a play with my frame and it looks like it could take it. Does anyone have any experience with this?

200mm is the correct "i-2-i" for your model Heckler. 190mm equals 7.5" i-2-i. The main difference will be the 2" (50mm) stroke versus the 2.25" stroke. The 2.25" will work great and give you 5.6" of travel.

Hello all,

I currently am looking for a new shock for my 2003 Heckler. The stroke is 2 inches; but is it possible to install a shock with 2.25 inches stroke?
Does the rear wheel doesn't touch the frame?
I can choose between these two shocks

- a fox float big air chambre ( OEM heckler shock)
- Manitou Swinger Air 4-way 200mm (standard)

which do you guy's think is the best choise?

many thanks !!
