Um, a hammer/splay is used on a headset cup because it's just that - a bearing cup.
yeah, with the same basic tool as you remove a headset cup.
i don't get what the problem is...? its not like headset removal, or suspension pivot bearing removal is hard on a frame.

You don't use a hammer/flathead to remove linkage bearings on an expensive frame, you use a bearing puller, or some sort of press.

Oh wow, so this thread is about the Scott Gambler. Thanks for sharing, good info and fun video. I've liked this frame from the beginning but I like it more and more each time I see something about it. Nice work on it!!

Congrats on all the hard work Ben! these are looking amazing....that black/blue one with the Zee package looks like it'll probably be pretty tough to beat in terms of $$/performance ratio...good stuff

I only know the prices in Euros. The top end one is 5600, the second one has an open bath 40 for 3600 and the third one has a Boxxer for 3000 euros.
For now you would have to come and ride with me... Could be fun?Where can I demo one of these bad boys?

The US has different taxes than the EU. I'll have to check on the US pricing. I mainly work on development and testing so I don't know the pricing for every country.
@Ian - Yes, I was surprised we could get a 40 on there for that price. That is the one a lot of my friends are getting. I like the colors best on that one.
@Monarch - I am not sure if it is OEM only. The riding around here is good until beginning to mid November depending on the snow. We might go riding in San Remo this fall. Is that far from you?
For San Remo we need about 3 hours to get there. So no problems. In the fall my "not having time to do a longer than to days trip" problem should also be solved.

Ben that open bath Fox is an awesome idea. I would seriously consider selling my avy boxxer if it performed as well as regular 40s.
DH20 pricing is amazing and I'm certain we will see a lot of them
Any Idea what a Framekit could cost?
I have seen open bath OEM Float forks that are pretty awful compared to the FIT cartridge models.
That's a real bummer.
@Ben - how long is the whole PdS area open? Nothing certain but I'm thinking about some september trip so it might be an awesome idea to try the new Scott.
Some proto light weight Scott ones. They will be out at Eurobike.
There is still some good stuff open in the PDS in the first two weeks in September. After that there is good riding but not all in the PDS but surrounding spots that are not far with a car.

ha, and how do you define that? It's got a loose rear end that goes through 8 or 9" easily, with big plastic knobs on the front to keep the stanchions from knocking around, all wrapped up in a fancy paint job?

didn't look it up but I think the demo is pretty long in general. Is ther an XL demo or just an L?
Just an L. But they have 4 sizes, starting at XS. So they are comparable to an XL Session etc.
Hopefully they plan with an XL for the future...

The geo chart has a mistake and the L size is 10mm longer than what the chart says. The L Gambler is how he wanted the bike. When he said no more changes we stopped tweaking it. 441mm compared to 447mm for the Reach is not such a big difference.
At 1,90m I think you would be fine on the L. Steve Jones is about that tall and his review is in the new DIRT, by the way.

Keep in mind the slacker HA makes the wheelbase longer (for a given reach) than steeper bikes too, so once you're actually riding, the bike will probably feel long enough provided you make whatever setup choices you need in order to feel comfortable in the cockpit.
