Just wanted to hear some opinions of the set-up. I saw Acadian's review on PB, but just wanted to see if anyone else has had any experiences with it. How's the durability?

what is th weight diff. between a thomson post/ti saddle and this stuff??
I don't know the exact difference - but you sure can feel the difference!

the I-Fly Saddle is like 112 grams and the I-Fly C is 135.

The post is something like 230 grams at full 350mm lenght.

so when the post isn't cut, you look at 342 grams.

I've broken one, my buddy Joel broke his. I'm still running one, though I wish i wasnt. The angle adjustment sucks I had to put a bolt in it to keep it from slipping. I basically got the seat and post for free though so I cannot complain from that standpoint. They're just not that durable.

Do you have the newer post of the older one (with 2 fastening bolt I believe)

ya...the problems you were/are having was know - reason why they have a new post now!! :thumb:
My biggest gripe wasn't with the post though, Its just how easy it is to crack the plastic seats one good crash where the seat hits something will do it in. I'm sure it would be a great setup for XC or someone who doesnt crash as much as me.

DISCLAIMER: My team is sponsored by SDG.....I've been on mine all season and it's been great. Took some nasty hits (stuff that would have definitely bent rails) and so far no problems. As far as weight, nothing else even comes close, and you can really feel it when you get on the pedals in a sprint. The angle and fore/aft adjustments are simple and work well (it's yet to come out of adjustment). SDG has been AWESOME to work with as well, so definitely give it a try :thumb:

They definitely sound interesting to me. I love my Thomson cause it is SO lightweight and easy to work with and stout apparently.

But the price of a Ti saddle just isn't warranted in my opinion for the weight savings. The seat area seems like it might 1 of very few areas my burly, break stuff butt can handle. Wheels I can't skimp on, fork either. So little crap like a seatpost/seat combo might be my shot at "lightweight"

Unless it's cheap, cheap, cheap....I'm not giving up my Thomson.

I love my thomson and really considered going to the I-beam system this year. But what it came down to is that if somthing foes wrong and im in some small biking village, they are probally not going to have anything that will work for the i-beam system. Im using a thomson with a ti-railed road seat and im pretty happy.. Still considering the I-beam though..

I've used mine all year with no complaints, I weight 205 and it feels flexy but has not yet failed, its used on a bike for superD and mtnx it has taken many hard hits, flying cart wheels and thing and is still fine, as far as weight nothing and no combination compares so its hard for most to compare durability.
if you want to buy one seat, to last forever than this might not be for you, if your looking to save weight and have somthing worth sitting on this is the seat for you, simple as that.

Have you looked at the Performance-branded Ti saddles? They're like $30-40 and very, very nice. I've abused the HELL out of mine (I'm skinny, but I crash hard and often-ask Orven) and it's ugly but still kicking.

i got one for my DH bike, i broke it 2 weeks later, so i got the XC saddle and put it on my race BMX, The XC race saddle is light but easily the most uncomfortable seat i have ever sat on. Hence it's on my BMX race bike, as i hardley use it and i dont dont sit down when i do. In saying all this i have broken every seat i have tried, i just put it down with rear mech's it's just one of those things i'm going to brake.

exactly, hate to say this but he is right. and i love my thompson elite seatpost with azonic hotseat. looks good and its a burly set up . and the hotseat is made to be a little bit lighter cause its a freeride specific seat. so there ya go.

i broke just the one, but it wasent a big hit, just landed a little crooked on it and the plastic snapped. I did'nt really like the feel of the first DH i beam seat anyway so i did'nt go back to it. I think they have newer styles now though.

i nearly bought the ibeam system recently but stuck w/ my thomson post and just replaced my berserkr saddle. i think it's cool that the i beam system was thought up--i.e. taking a different approach to design can be a good thing sometimes--but AFAIK there was no effort to make this like ISIS, i.e. there are no other brands of i beam compatible saddles out there. Since saddles are a personal thang in terms of fit and function, it's good to have some real choices. also like the other poster said, replacing the seat in an emergency situation could be hard since it's not stocked in most bike shops.

unlike the ISIS bb system.

Am I the only one who actually sit's down and pedals?

How can you guys stand the lack of flex in these seats, they not only hurt your ass, but they transmit trail bumps and roughness right into your lower back. Maybe I've been riding Selle Italia's (Flight's or SLR's) too long but I'm not to fond of the I-beam directly under the center of the saddle.

It's still not as light as my Thomson layback post and SLR saddle. :p

SLR saddles is like sitting on a layer of scabs!! ;)

I do sit down to pedal, but the "lack of flex", which I don't really notice, doesn't bother me that much? As far as comfort goes, feels just like any other good saddle to me?

Should have put a smiley after that. :stupid:

Everyone has their own preference, lord know's how many comment's I've gotten on my seat being a torture device instead of a saddle... expecially after I removed all the padding drilled it out and then customized it with 1mm of foam and some fake fur.
