Just wanted to hear some opinions of the set-up. I saw Acadian's review on PB, but just wanted to see if anyone else has had any experiences with it. How's the durability?
I don't know the exact difference - but you sure can feel the difference!bizutch said:what is th weight diff. between a thomson post/ti saddle and this stuff??
Do you have the newer post of the older one (with 2 fastening bolt I believe)Guntruck said:I've broken one, my buddy Joel broke his. I'm still running one, though I wish i wasnt. The angle adjustment sucks I had to put a bolt in it to keep it from slipping. I basically got the seat and post for free though so I cannot complain from that standpoint. They're just not that durable.
ya...the problems you were/are having was know - reason why they have a new post now!!Guntruck said:Oh, yeah I have one of the old posts. I guess they have new posts now?
My biggest gripe wasn't with the post though, Its just how easy it is to crack the plastic seats one good crash where the seat hits something will do it in. I'm sure it would be a great setup for XC or someone who doesnt crash as much as me.Acadian said:ya...the problems you were/are having was know - reason why they have a new post now!!
Glad you're not a weight weenieAcadian said:I don't know the exact difference - but you sure can feel the difference!
the I-Fly Saddle is like 112 grams and the I-Fly C is 135.
The post is something like 230 grams at full 350mm lenght.
so when the post isn't cut, you look at 342 grams.
its all in the documentation - I had to look it upBrian HCM#1 said:Glad you're not a weight weenie
Have you looked at the Performance-branded Ti saddles? They're like $30-40 and very, very nice. I've abused the HELL out of mine (I'm skinny, but I crash hard and often-ask Orven) and it's ugly but still kicking.bizutch said:But the price of a Ti saddle just isn't warranted in my opinion for the weight savings. .

and btw...STFU bitch!
exactly, hate to say this but he is right. and i love my thompson elite seatpost with azonic hotseat. looks good and its a burly set up . and the hotseat is made to be a little bit lighter cause its a freeride specific seat. so there ya go.i just put it down with rear mech's it's just one of those things i'm going to brake.
how many I-Beams have you broken?me89 said:exactly, hate to say this but he is right. and i love my thompson elite seatpost with azonic hotseat. looks good and its a burly set up . and the hotseat is made to be a little bit lighter cause its a freeride specific seat. so there ya go.
oh I was asking me89Yeti-Freak said:i broke just the one, but it wasent a big hit, just landed a little crooked on it and the plastic snapped. I did'nt really like the feel of the first DH i beam seat anyway so i did'nt go back to it. I think they have newer styles now though.
Tim
okay so maybee i havent broken any i was just giving an alternative to them. and saying that i like the setup. is that wrong.how many I-Beams have you broken?
pretty much what I assumed - bad me89!! just gets to me when people say "product X blows" just to plug alternate product Z that they really like - even if they never tried product X .me89 said:okay so maybee i havent broken any i was just giving an alternative to them. and saying that i like the setup. is that wrong.

SLR saddles is like sitting on a layer of scabs!!ssaddict said:Am I the only one who actually sit's down and pedals?
How can you guys stand the lack of flex in these seats, they not only hurt your ass, but they transmit trail bumps and roughness right into your lower back. Maybe I've been riding Selle Italia's (Flight's or SLR's) too long but I'm not to fond of the I-beam directly under the center of the saddle.
It's still not as light as my Thomson layback post and SLR saddle.

I do sit down to pedal, but the "lack of flex", which I don't really notice, doesn't bother me that much? As far as comfort goes, feels just like any other good saddle to me?
