Anyone out there riding / ridden an SE DJ ripper (26?)? The brand is iconic, but back in the early days, I broke to PKs (frame cracks at seat tube). Just wondering if it’s worth spending $1000 on…or if I should spend more and get a Spec., or more current brand?

I would think you could do better at that price. My Black Mrkt Three57 was less than a grand and was fantastic. But I haven't looked at what's out there in a while.

I was a HUGE SE fanboy in the 80's but from what I understand it's all mid tier Chinese manufacturing now going off the name.

I too rode a PK as a kid. Like, in the 70s.
This thread kicked up some welcome dust in the old memory banks.

My PK Ripper also broke at the seat-stay / seat-tube junction.
