"Seasoned" FR/DHer's

Looking for the right linkage design and I'm wondering what you "Seasoned" riders think.

I started off with an IH expert, sold fast and got a Giant AC1, then moved up into a Norco A-line '04, got a Giant DH '04, and now I'm on a Transition Dirtbag. Although the Dirtbag has been the best build yet I'm thinking about going back to a FSR linkage similar to a bighit/Norco A-line. I feel like this style of a linkage design rides really solid for all uses. I'm just curious before I start saving and selling off my current setup, what you all like and why.

I rode an AC1. Got rid of it after a season it was my first DH/FR bike it was good for me then but i got rid of it. I'm on a FSR bighit DH now and a Singlepivot Heckler. Personally FSR or the new DWlink would be perfect.

You just opened a can of sponsor whoreing...good luck
Oh well...most people are going to chime in on there product if they like it. If they don't like it they won't say sh!t, or at least they shouldn't. Besides, it's easy to tell who's sponsored and who's not by signatures, so you can pick out the bsers.

I really like my dh9, the floating brake is great, pedals great also.

the Iron Horse dw link should be sweet. most bikes w/ the fsr link should be good

This seasoned freerider thinks that one needs more time on a particular bike in order to get used to it, understand it's strengths and weeknesses, and by extension, be able to ride it well. I say stick with the bike you have for a little while and you will be faster for it.

That being said, new stuff sure is nice....

For the record, most sponsored riders like the gear their on, if they're good enough to get sponsored then they are good enough to choose who sponsors them (in most cases). Also they want to win and they wouldn't ride product they felt was incapable of accomplishing that goal. You just have to understand that they might embellish the truth a wee tid bit here and there. ;)

As far as bikes, I've had tons of them over the years and I agree that FSR 4-bars are great. But I also have a Kona big-bike currently and people who throw a leg over it often tell me it's the best Kona they've ever felt. I have spent some time tuning it. I think for '05 I might get a Demo8/9 or maybe the new Stinky Supreme with floating brake since that should make it more like an FSR (theoretically).

Some of the newer VPP type bikes seem really nice as well such as the new V-10 or the Iron Horse Sunday.

I guess the question is are you looking for a race bike or freeride bike since those two are often different these days.
