Whats the deal with all the BMX and slalom people angling their seats to the sky? I've ridden friends bikes like that and the only thing I can think of it's for style. What am I missing here

BMX i dont really know, but rumor has it part of it is so you dont sit down... ever.. at least i know one kid who if he sat would have a kevlar enema, so that kept him up and sprinting.. slalom/MX it helps with control, because when your bike is going down a hill the seat is still at a decent angle to pinch/push on with your knees for control.
Also, where your saddle serves as a landing pad (rather than a perch) you're usually coming down on it from a rearward angle than straight up. If the saddle is angled upwards a bit, it makes the landing a little less pointy

Bahhh, Your seat is too damned flat on all your bikes, LIAR!!!
A recent trend I don't understand is 10-14 yearold experts I see at the BMX track who run their seats angles down... IT seems to be most prevalent among kids wearing moto helmets and neck rolls... Very odd.
