What size Bullits did y'all get? I'm looking at ordering one, and I'm on the fence between a medium and large. I'm 5"11 and 1/2, long arms and torso. Gonna be my all around bike, singlecrown fork. I'm thinking large with a short stem, but I'd love to hear some more opinions.

Just ordered my '03 bullit (Scuba Yellow) last week and I'm getting all the goods so I can build it when it arrives (3 weeks). The post size is 28.6, so I'm guessing a 30mm QR clamp??

Here's what I've got so far:

'03 bullit w/ progressive
FSA pig HS
Marz. 02 DJ1 QR20
Kore B52
Pro Tapers
Hayes 8" FR/RR w/ Razor Rocks
FSA Xtreme 4 bolt ISIS
RaceFace ISIS BB
XT/LX der.
XT pods
MRP LRP
Sun Mag 30's DB14's on Hadley/INTENSE hubs
2.35 Mobsters

All I need is the damn clamp and a conversion kit for the rear hub.

I'd go with a large. You could run a 50mm stem and still get pretty good pull on climbs. I'm 6'1" and will run a 60mm stem. I've got 2 wheelsets one light FR one DH. I toyed around with the idea of getting a FLy or a ASX, but the bullit seems to do it all.

Go medium!

I am 6'0 and kind of lanky.I was torn between the large\medium.
After going to a shop and sitting on both, the large is a long tank.
Some folks like longish bikes so whatever. Mine is med, avalanche shock, Boxxer team, evil drs, north shore RF cranks, hayes 8", king steelset. hadley hubs\mag 30 rims.

If you are more dh and freeride than xc stuff go for the medium with a little bigger stem. The large is really a good bit bigger in wheelbase and toptube length.
Try to ride\sit on both as it really is a preference thing.

Peace! :sneaky:

Do you ever hit your knees when you're pedalling? I'm going to be going up as much as down. I don't think I'll have a problem with the singlecrown, but I may upgrade to a Slider or Boxxer in the future if I feel like I need it to "handle my moves" :)

I was sitting on a large at a shop by my house (pretty sure it was a large, the salesman was no help, and I didn't see a marking anywhere) and I felt pretty streched out.

I'll have to find both at a shop and compare side to side. I'll also tool around on a buddy's large and see how that is. Thanks guys.

If you are under 6' tall, I would definitely recommend a Medium frame. I'm 6'3" and I ride a large frame, and it fits very well; a little big for technical DH riding, and a little small for XC riding. Perfect for all around.

I ordered a Salsa quick release seatpost clamp last week. I had the LBS measure it to make sure they ordered the right size. I think it was 31.5.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, now I can order the rest of the goods.

As far as sizing goes, I'm 6'1" 225 and after selling my DH bike (a medium M1), I wanted to build a heavy duty trail/freeride bike that I can still go do a DH race on. I have a longer torso so medium seemed just a bit too small. Sizing is always a pain.

Hmm....I'm leaning toward medium now.
You boys on the large frames all sound like you have a little more muscle than me.

Thanks for the help guys.

Silver: If you are going to ride it as a trail bike, and raise the seatpost up so you can actually pedal/climb in the saddle, I would definitely suggest a Large for you. If the frame is too small for you, it would make it really uncomfortable to climb/XC long distances in the saddle.

I would also get the Large if you don't plan on competing in DH events. I ride a large because it fits great as a small(ish) DH rig, but it tolerable riding XC/uphill with it.

still, it's just my opinion, and I would suggest that you ride each size to make sure that you find the one that fits.

Hope all this helps.

Yeah, I'm going to try them both. Standover is the same for both frame sizes, I've heard. I'm going to try them both out first though.

Honestly, I think both will probably fit me fine. And I'm not worried about riding it like a trailbike, tons of people do that around here.

This may be a bit late, but I just ordered a QR post clamp for my '00 Bullit and I would swear that it was 35mm (34.9mm). Whatever it is, it should be the same as your front derailleur.

As for Bullit size, I'm 6'3" and went with a large. I use mine for everything, but I wanted it a little small so I could blaze the downhills. Seems like a good fit to me, but for climbing, I've got my seatpost just about at the max line.

I was in the shop today and decided on a large. I think the one I sat on before must have been an XL. The large felt perfect for trail riding....If I was shuttling a lot I probably would have gone with a medium.

Thanks for the advice and help guys.
