Okay I have an Iron Horse Marauder. The official seat post size is 26.4 I was wondering if it could fit a 26.8. Anybody got any experience with this. 26.4 is hard to track down. I would do 26.4 but I can't find any nice seatpost in this size.

well, in theory you could sand down a seatpost or the frame but losing .4mm of material from either would be a pretty bad idea. It would also be hard to sand evenly.

If you can find a seatpost you want with a smaller size, I'd say buy it and shim it.

that'd be my suggestion. i think losing .4mm of metal will make a big difference, but it also depends how much exposed post and the angle of it.

No. You can't do it. It might be posible to ream out the seat tube IF the wall thickness can handle it, but you'll need a frame builder or some one knowledgable about the strengths of your frame to tell you. Another option might be to get a machine shop to make a shaft for you and which you can attach a good seatpost head to. Just not sure where you can get a good seatpost head already made.

On the subject of posts and shims, where might one get a shim? I've a nice Thomson post I'd like to use but it's .2 too small. Would my lbs have one?
