The used DH bike that I just got came with a bontrager one-bolt seatpost. I feel like I'm getting a lot of creaks from the area, but it's hard to determine where exactly it's coming from- the saddle, the post, the shock, or something else entirely. I haven't spent too much time trying to diagnose it.

Are these posts typically problematic? I'm used to thomson posts on my DH bikes, which you set and never have to think about again. I found an Easton EA30 post on cambria for 8$, and it has the same two bolt micro adjust as the thomson. I'd rather not replace a good part with another cheap part, but I hate it when bikes creak, and I want to make this fella solid.

Does it keep creaking when you're not on the seat? If it does, then it is probably the linkage. If it doesn't stop, then it is probably the seat or post.
