Another local news story.....boy is spanked by cop with mothers permission. He gets suspended. 
I need a larger article but this is stupid. Though I hope the cop got the permission in writing.

SEATTLE -- A Seattle police officer is appealing his five-day suspension for spanking a boy with the child's permission.
Richard Roberson became a mentor to the boy, now 10, when he was a 8 years old and a habitual runaway. The spankings started in May 2002 and continued on at least five occasions.
Roberson also helped the boy with homework and took him to movies. The boy's mother says she gave the officer permission to spank the child. And she says the boy has been doing better since the punishment was used.
Roberson says he was trying to help the boy. But Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske says the officer created a potential liability for the city and the police department.
