Good call. My buddy's got the 4" Preston, which I like, but feel it needs more travel. He is getting the 5" plates soon, so I'll likely wait to check his. However, I would like to test the Dirtbag, in the 5.2" travel setting with a 5" fork and see what I think. Another couple options that have come up are the Foes FXR and the Intense 5.5 EVP. Pricier, yes, but worth it?? Y'all tell me!
I'm not knocking you, but you mentioned earlier that the 5 spot was out of your price range. Both of these frames are just as much or more expensive than the 5 spot. I'm 220 too, and ride the Foes Fly as my trail bike. Is it heavy? Of course it's a pig but I've gotten used to using it as a trail bike.

If you are going the less expensive route, go for the Heckler. Well built and simple. If you want to splurge, both the FXR and 5 Spot are super nice rigs. Both are stiff and the build qualities are top notch.

I weigh 2oolbs and am running a 750 spring on my Preston with a 5" Firefly on the front. I just love this bike!!! The 4" has been fine for me ridding the Shore trails.

Coming from a dh rig (in for warrenty) it took a few rides getting used to the 'twitchy' ride.

Great guys at Transition, awesome service! The Preston seems to have the perfect balance for a do everything ride without being flimsy.
