Guys,

Just got a used rear wheel and the Hayes elite hub was seizing like crazy. I took it apart and put it back together and it spins correctly now but squeaks like crazy. Will Hayes take this in and fix it? I don't care about paying to have it fixed, I am just wondering if I need to send it to Hayes or if my local LBS can help out. I am going to be riding at Big Bear and ride urban with the bike so the hub is going to get hammered quite a bit. It is on a D321 if that helps at all. Thanks.

It is actually not a Hayes hub, it was made for them by DT-Swiss. Those star rachet mechanisms are stupid simple to work on. Stop by your LBS and have them re-build your freehub body. If they can't get it to work, have them send it to the DT-Swiss facility in Colorado.
