Reminder, Trail School with the IMBA Trail Care Crew is Sat 9/15. This is a free, all day seminar that will teach the best of sustainable trail building technique. The project will be a new trail at Camp Sekani - part of the proposed beginner skills area. The Trail Care Crew, Kristin and Ryan Butcher, have extensive experience building mountain bike parks all over the nation. The trail will ultimately have a ladder line and an alternate line. Free, but preregister here:

Yes, we know it's the same weekend as the race. We get the crew assigned from IMBA HQ; we don't have a say in it.

"Phase one" of the bike park is in the approval process. This will be a beginner skills area with trails and technical features appropriate for skill building. A design team is being put into place; meeting is soon. We are still looking for interested volunteers.

I went before the City Parks lands council yesterday, we've got the ongoing "thumbs up" to keep moving forward. We are framing it as just like the new whitewater park that's going in downtown, but for bikes. They get it. They want me to present an update to City Council in Nov.

Other projects in process include several rebuilds of old structures funded by a $1000 Kona Freeride grant, and a continuation and completion of the ladder trail to the east of the DH course.
