yeah, I've done a bit on the maxxis highroller semi-slick. It seems to me that you need relatively specific conditions to make it a truly appropriate tire choice. It has a narrower range of ideal performance than some other tires out there. However, if you ride packed dirt, street, trails (dry) and don't like to switch out tires much, it might not be a bad way to go. If you are racing DH, you might want to just keep it in your quiver of tires, but it won't likely be chosen often for racing. Again though, that depends on where you race/ride, and what the most common conditions are.
i use a intense zero and love it
feels good durring the summer out here in the PNW but as soon as it gets REALY wet (it's ALWAYS WET) i put a knobby back on. Feels good for street to and rolls much faster.
I ran the Maxxis semislick on the rear for a while
It was fast and frankly, the lack of traction made me learn to use the brakes less or rather better.
Certainly not the best "all-around" tire.
Side note: RM's Blong heckled me silly for buying that tire new when he could of sold me a worn out tire for $5.
